IS:4413

IS 4413 (standardized under the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for wrought copper and copper alloy rods and bars) designates a specialized riveting leaded brass (closely aligned with European CuZn37 / CW508L or American riveting brass grades). Formulated with a copper content typically ranging from 62.0% to 64.0% (and balanced with zinc), IS 4413 incorporates a controlled minor lead addition to optimize cold heading, upsetting, and moderate machining performance. Designed specifically for manufacturing hardware that undergoes severe mechanical deformation—such as cold-formed rivets, pins, and eyelets—IS 4413 balances the high cold-forming ductility of single-phase alpha brasses with the functional advantages of a controlled lead dispersion.
