UNS C28500 (standardized under specifications such as ASTM B927 and ASTM B124, and closely aligned with the European designation EN CW510L / CuZn42) is a high-zinc, duplex (α + β) structural brass formulated to deliver high tensile strength, excellent hot-working plasticity, and compliance with low-lead environmental directives. Containing 57.0% to 59.0% copper and a zinc balance with a tightly controlled maximum lead content of 0.25%, C28500 provides a high-performance, eco-friendly alternative to traditional high-lead machining brasses. With a high proportion of the harder beta (β) phase, C28500 offers superior rigidity and structural strength, making it ideal for forged components, threaded fittings, fasteners, and sanitary hardware.
