CW510L

CW510L (chemical designation CuZn42, historically referenced under German standard DIN W.Nr. 2.0380 or cross-referenced with American UNS C28500) is a high-zinc, duplex (α + β) structural brass defined under European standards including EN 12164 (rods for free machining), EN 12165 (forging stock), and EN 12167 (profiles). Formulated with 57.0% to 59.0% copper and a zinc balance with a tightly restricted maximum lead content of $0.20\%$, CW510L is engineered as an eco-compliant, high-performance structural alloy. Because its zinc content sits near 41% - 43%, CW510L features a high proportion of the harder, more rigid beta (β) phase at room temperature. This duplex structure delivers high tensile strength, stiffness, and exceptional hot-working plasticity, making it the premier European standard alloy for closed-die forgings, hot-stamped plumbing fittings, and structural fasteners.
