CZ135 (governed by British Standards BS 2874 for rods and sections, BS 2872 for forging stock, and unified across Europe as EN 12164 / EN 12165 CW713R) is a specialized, multi-phase high-tensile brass engineered specifically for sliding wear resistance, high structural yield strength, and friction applications. Metallurgically structured around a complex duplex matrix, CZ135 is formulated with 57.0% to 60.0% Copper and fortified by a synergistic combination of Manganese (1.5% - 3.5%), Aluminum (1.0% - 2.0%), and Silicon (0.3% - 1.3%), with a controlled lead content (≤ 0.80%). The interaction between manganese and silicon forms hard, microscopic manganese silicide (Mn5Si3) intermetallic precipitates dispersed uniformly throughout the structure. This microstructural network provides hardness and abrasion resistance comparable to aluminum bronze, while preserving superior hot forgeability and machinability
