CZ115 (governed by British Standards BS 2874 for rods and sections, BS 2872 for forging stock, and traditionally designated under BS 1001) is a high-strength copper alloy classified metallurgically as an Aluminum-Manganese Bronze or High Tensile Brass. Built upon a multi-phase duplex (α + β) matrix, it is formulated with 56.0% to 59.0% Copper, balanced with Zinc, and fortified with additions of Aluminum (0.50% - 2.50%), Manganese (0.50% - 2.00%), Iron (0.50% - 1.25%), and Lead (0.50% - 1.50%). Unlike CZ114 (which restricts aluminum to preserve brazing performance), CZ115 intentionally leverages aluminum as an active solid-solution strengthener and hardener. In synergy with iron and manganese intermetallics, this raises tensile strength up to 620 MPa and creates an alloy engineered for heavy mechanical loads, high surface wear, and severe cavitation.
